Hi everyone....sorry for the long absence....my laptop crashed (fried the motherboard!) and I was without a computer for a few weeks AND without my stats spreadsheet....I was holding my breath waiting to see if I lost everything.... but fortunately I only lost a few updates on the spreadsheet so I am busy trying to fill it in and catch up for the time I missed....updates will be coming as fast as possible I swear!

in the mean time....advise of the day....BACK UP your important files...at least once in a while....not like me every ummmmmm....well......6 months or so? maybe.....? LOL

Toronto - O Canada! - July 28, 2008

There is SO much I could say about Toronto...this is the show Dakota and I had been waiting for. Due to many scheduling conflicts we had to cut the number of shows we attended down to just a couple. So when I asked Dakota what one show would she want to see she chose Toronto immediately. It's Philips home town and she wanted to be there for him. I think she also knew that he would be playing at his finest there. As fate would have it I wasn't able to get the tickets fast enough through the fan club and we either had to choose another show or do the Travel package to get great seats. So I asked Dakota....you have to make a choice...do you want a used car for your 16th birthday and pick a couple concerts somewhere other than Toronto OR do you want to do the travel package and give up getting your licence and car for at least 1 year?

To my surprise she chose to give up her licence and car for a year so she could go to Toronto! WOW...would not have been my choice at that age LOL

Toronto was INCREDIBLE! Philip was at his finest...and seeing everyone through the package was a blast! This is a picture of the Kid showing Melissa her latest favorite Philip t-shirt....I was laughing at the two of them LOL! Of course she had to be wearing her Mini-Me beanie and Philip guitar pick neclace too LOL....her outfit wouldnt be complete without them...

During the M&G Melissa told Dakota that Philip would be opening the show with O Canada and that nobody else knew yet LOL....the Kid was soooooooo excited and couldnt wait for the show to start then! When we got up to our seats we pretty much had front row center....but Dakota had plans to head way over to in front of Philip for the night LOL....I had handed out glow bracelets to the entire front row and then some more in the 2nd row that I knew also....as soon as the lights went down we hit the stage! I looked around and sure enough Dakota was WAY over in front of Philip (I dont know how she moves so fast LMAO) I ended up directly in front of Melissa at center stage....I did a quick look around and saw where all my friends were.....COOL they all made it up to the stage!

From begining to end it was a great show....the setlist was 28 songs, no tour premiers (just a surprise rendition of O Canada by Philip), all core songs were played except All There Is and Not Tonight (due to curfew restrictions she went right into Like The Way I Do).

Despite the rain delay the set list still managed to be 25 songs long! There were no tour premiers but You Can Sleep While I Drive was added by request making only its 3rd appearance. The Awakening trilogy of The Universe Listened, Imagine That, and What Happens Tomorrow were not played however BOTH Like The Way I Do and Piece of My Heart were played.

I wonder if she had to think twice before singing Bring Me Some Water and An Unexpected Rain since most of the audience was wrapped in plastic and using umbrellas while standing in the mud puddles LOL

Set list was 27 songs - Nowhere To Go was added by request so there was 3 songs played in between All There Is and California as opposed to the usual 2 songs. There were no tour premiers. This was the 29th show of the tour and no 2 setlists have been identical! Breakdown made only it's 2nd appearance so far this tour!

All I know is it seems they are saying Philip Sayce is a Guitar Hero....which he is LOL. He can do things with a guitar that will just blow you away....I think I could sit and listen to him for hours...the Kid does LOL she can't wait till Monday in Toronto....

I have noticed that while the following numbers may change...their over all percentages dont seem to change more than 0.1%....I swear Melissa HAS to be using a computer program to figure this all out because the perfection of balance maintained between songs and albums is unreal!

Lowell, MA - this was my favorite venue last tour....the stage rush came the second the lights went down....and from what I hear it was the same this time around! Gotta love it! It's such a cute little town, I love how there is a river that runs right beside the venue....we spent a lot of time watching the wildlife there a few years ago.

Life has been a little hectic around here....first the turn around trip to CT with a stop in Reading for a much needed concert fix LOL and then home to clean up the house and finish up some paper work and go to our final class to become foster parents and then our home study and fingerprinting/background checks OMG they really will know EVERYTHING about us by the time this is all over! (did I mention the physical??) LOL....I still need to hang more smoke detectors and do some child proofing...and something else that I cant remember at this moment....maybe I should follow Tammy's lead and start making some lists!

Back on track....Poughkeepsie, NY....the set list was 26 songs, all core songs were played plus 7 others....TOUR PREMIER of My Lover (there have now been 68 different songs premiered)....another cool item to note is that 2 other songs made only their 2nds appearances: Angels Would Fall and Kiss Me. Also both times Angels Would Fall was played the 2nd song after it was from the Lucky album.

So far Melissa has performed 580 songs in 22 concerts...the average set list is 26.4 songs.

Here is something I never thought I would say after a Melissa concert...I MET THE COOLEST GUY! Shout out to Andrew....he is incredible! But he told me to get the stats up ASAP....so I will do some tonight and maybe a more in depth tomorrow night after I get back home...LOL

Reading had a setlist of 26 songs, all the core songs were played, there were no tour premiers. There have been 67 songs performed for a total of 555 songs sung! Of the predictions I made, I got 21 of the 26 right LOL...dont be impressed yet, 19 of them are core songs LMAO....oh well....I will try again another night.....it just proves that she is unpredictable and you never really know what you will hear.

I did notice a slight trend....every time she has played All American Girl (6 times), then in-between California and An Unexpected Rain she has only played 1 song instead of 2, and 4 of those times she has also only played 1 song in between I Want To Come Over and I'm The Only One. The other 2 times she played the An Unusual Kiss and Threesome combo.

Philip Sayce was ON FIRE....he is such an incredible guitarist....if you dont have his CD's yet you sure need to give 'em a listen...he does things with his guitar that will just blow your mind! And to top it off he is the nicest, most caring guy I have ever met. He goes above and beyond and gives 1,000% everytime. I am honored to have crossed his path in this journey we all are on. He will go far I am sure!

So we had a tour premier again! This time it was Royal Station 4/16. What an incredible souldful song....love the harmonica! The setlist was 27 songs, all the core songs were played in their respective slots, so no major setlist shake ups at this point.

I have been on the road the past few days....I am now settled into the hotel here in Reading with only a few hours to go till showtime....so I will know the setlist instantly LOL. I have made some predictions that I think will be played tonight, but wont post them....but I will let you know how it goes....

ok....off to get something to eat and head over there...seats in front of Philip tonight WHOO HOO!!

HEY - I have that same hat! Gonna have to go have my picture taken with him! I know Melissa can take our breath away, but it looks like Gramps has the right idea and brings his own oxygen!, I'm gonna have a seat near him next time I can LOL... And I know ranted a few days ago about people not sitting at a concert, but Gramps gets a free pass to not stand - but dammit - he showed up and partied with the best! Newport, RI - I dont know what to say...

Please read Camille's review it leaves me sad....and proud at the same time.

The Newport concert was billed as a Special Festival Performance. According to the definition found online a fes·ti·val is as follows;
1. –noun - gaiety; revelry; merrymaking.
2. –adjective - festal: a festival atmosphere of unrestrained joy.

Unrestrained joy....what does that phrase mean to you? What do you picture when you hear that? Have you ever been at the stage and felt the power and energy that flows between the fans and Melissa? As many fans have said before....the power and intensity and energy that Melissa puts into her show is a reflection of what is given to her by her audience. The more she gets the more she gives....and it seems to me that she somehow manages to give back soooo much more than she gets in a 5 vs 2000 match up. So I do my part....and I give her my energy when I am there at the stage, and what she gives me back carries me well past that show.

There seems to be 2 groups of fans...those who sit quietly and soak it all in and those who stand and dance and ride that wave of energy and unrestrained joy that they are experiencing. Both types of fans have a right to their experience....and there is a fine line when one type of fans experience impedes on another. Those that want to stand and dance may be in front of someone who doesn't....and when those fans ask security to make the others sit down it stops their energy flow and their way of enjoying the concert.

I do believe both types of fans are entitled to enjoy the show in their own ways.....but there should be some responsible ticket purchasing.....if you want to stand and dance and such....be down front as much as possible, or if further back get the isle seats if possible. And if you are someone who wishes to sit and soak it all in then don't purchase tickets in the pit or first 15 rows at a minimum....if you have them and a group of people are dancing in front of you why not switch seats with someone over there in another area who is standing in front of someone else? Basically creating a sitting / standing areas LOL.

If you want to sit choose seats that will be more inclined to have other "sitters" in that area.....I know there were some awesome balcony seats in Lowell in 2006 that were right AT the stage, but were above the standing masses...the view was incredible, and it was hell on me as a stander LOL, but I did sit, because I was in an area that I knew was full of sitters....but the next night when I was on the floor section I don't think my butt saw my seat for even 2 minutes....I was in company of standers LOL. In NY I was in an area further back that had people sitting all around me...I stood up and moved two rows back and was able to stand without being in any ones way. In Boca 2006 I watched as others allowed Edith to make her way to the stage and stand and dance. When she tired she went back to a seat and rested....and then again returned to the stage to stand and embrace her experience.

It broke my heart to read Camille's review....she is such an incredible writer that I was right there with her at the stage....and when I read that she was being threatened with being kicked out of the concert JUST because she wouldn't sit down....well....I was in shock. She was in front row.....she wasn't at a philharmonic....she was at a ROCK concert. She wasn't drunk or being obnoxious or anything you would expect to be escorted from the building for. She was just standing there experiencing unrestrained joy.

As I read on, I was also proud....proud of Camille for standing up for what was right, and for Melissa and her guitar tech for intervening for what was right. You see I believe that when Camille wrote the part where Melissa mouthed "I love you" it was for what they were giving to Melissa, their energy, their unrestrained joy. I believe that what Melissa gave to the audience last night was a pure reflection of a couple fans, in front, standing up for their rock star buddy and riding the wave.

If I may I want to quote Camille...because, atleast for me, she says it so well:

"I stand for her. I stand because I honor her. I stand because I am proud of her. I stand because she’ll stop and wave at my friends and I across the parking lot when she doesn’t have to or say “I LOVE YOU!” to you when you’re the only one standing at the stage. I stand because she speaks of wanting to be surrounded by people that want to change the world, and I am one of those people. I care not if I stand alone. I AM A GIANT, AND I WILL STAND!!!"

Only about 216 hours to go till I get to go to my first show of this tour....not that I am counting LOL....tracking the set lists and seeing whats being played has held me over so far....but these pictures really has me jonesing to get to a concert! So when that happens I also like to watch the videos - like this one but I think that just makes matters worse LOL....I think I will go look up hotels and map out my routes when I am done with tonight's blog ;-) (got a new GPS tonight!! So - Gilford, NH - PPP = Precious Pain premier! hehe.....We are now up to 65 of the 70 or so songs that are anticipated for this tour....and although last night was a set list of 26 songs, the average set list is 27 songs....a total of 405 songs have been performed over 15 concerts! wow....that sounds tiring.....I wonder how many miles they have traveled so far and how many bottles of water they have gone through??

I have a suggestion for a tour premier in Toronto - a special treat for the Philip Sayce fans - "Let The Love In" Listen to it on Philip's myspace page....2nd song on the player on right side of page - you just might recognize another voice on that track!

Hyannis, MA - The Nature Tour contiues...

Figuring out what might be played at an upcoming show is not easy....just when a pattern appears it is quick to disappear as well....it's fun to try and gives me something to do and keeps me off the streets LOL.....but it seems the only way to figure out how songs are picked is to get inside Melissa's head....but alas my "scout" was apprehended and thrown back into the audiance - watch video here so I will just have to keep plugging away here and report the trends instead of predicting the future LOL

Early in the tour Melissa had caught a cold....some would say she "caught a bug"....would that be called "turning a phrase" or a premonition?

Hyannis is a two show stop so I will save my more in depth report till after tonights show. That being said - the 1st show consisted of a 26 song setlist (27 if you count the snippet of Three Dog Night's "Mama, Told Me Not to Come"), there were no tour premiers, however....viewing the video's and reading the reviews of this show it appears that it was one of the funnest, most interactive shows so far! I am sure that those there right now are having a grand time!

Sorry this one is so short....the good news is after driving a total of about 150 miles today....visiting 3 different appliance stores....we WILL have a new washer on Friday...yes I told them that was a holiday but they swore they will deliver it that day anyways....here's hoping so...we are running outta clean....ummmm....socks.....lol

Danbury, CT - A moat??

I have seen a lot of different venues in my time....but a moat?? at the stage?? We would never have that in Florida...it would end up with alligators in it LOL....and ya'll think security are tough and wont let people up front...what if there was a moat full of alligators between you and the stage? LOL and while I am thinking of it...wouldn't it of been fun if the moat had those little remote control boats in it like you see in amusement parks? the kind that you you pay a quarter...or a dollar...or a token....whatever it takes and it powers up and you can drive it around and has that neat little button that you push and it activates the hose to squirt people with? LOL....ok maybe that's not such a good idea with all the electrical equipment....but I bet if some of the crew had thought of this they would have been squirting the front few rows just for kicks....or it could be used to hold back the stage rushers...you know...if the pirates and alligators didn't work hehehe....

Danbury was a wonderful show from fan reports...the rain held off....Melissa's voice is back as strong as ever after her cold....(hoping for a speedy recovery of even the littlest roadies)....the set list consisted of 28 songs, with a tour premier that was reportedly a fan request that resulted in an impromptu set list addition of You Can Sleep While I Drive. Another tour premier was Your Little Secret in the opening spot after All There Is. There have now been 64 different songs performed so far this tour. The total of all set lists combined equals 299 songs performed.

I could give a shout out to Lea here but it I think it just wouldn't hold the same OMG! factor as her shout out phone call from Melissa last night....If You Want To made a second appearance so far this tour....Read all about it and even watch a video of the phone call here.

P.S....looks like Toronto won't be my first show this tour...I am making a trip east and managed to route my trip back home pass through Reading, PA....YAY!! I get to help Camille figure out what to do with her extra ticket....I shall sacrifice myself to help a friend out LOL

Albany, NY - A "Crossroads City"

What I learned about Albany I found on Wikipedia LOL - Albany's geographic situation as a "Crossroads City" (roughly equidistant between New York, Montreal, Buffalo and Boston) makes it a convenient stop for nationally touring artists and acts.

The first 12 songs of the evening were the same as they were in Boca....this started to worry me since she hasnt had any identical setlists at all this tour, and out of all the shows in Summer of 2006 no 2 setlists were identical. (I dont yet have spreadsheets dating back further but am working on it).

The next 3 songs were the same as what was played in those spots in Orlando, and the 12 songs that followed were core songs that have been played in the same order for the past 8 concerts with the exception of Louisville where Hero's and Friends was played and The Kingdom Of Heaven was dropped.

The final encore song was Like The Way I Do making only its 2nd appearance so far. There were 28 songs total in the setlist.

So far there have been a pool of 62 different songs for a total of 271 songs performed. The average setlist is 27 songs. The most played were in Clearwater, FL at 30 and the least played has been 25 in Atlanta, GA which seems to have been at the height of her cold that was reported. There were no tour premiers in Albany.

For those attending tonights show in Danbury, CT....have fun....and stay dry! and if you get a chance PLEASE post the setlist or atleast the songs you remember....every little bit helps LOL.

The setlist hasnt been confirmed completly yet but here is stats based on what was "planned" and semi-confirmed by articles and posts and such.

There were FIVE tour premiers - Meet Me In The Back, Breakdown, This Moment, This Is Not Goodbye, and Like The Way I Do!

The 19 core songs still seem to be in the same positions and were played. The reviews were raving....the show incredible, but many reports of anyone beyond the first few rows either sitting or being asked to sit.....what is THIS about?? Washington, DC - Change is Coming!

I am not generally a political person....I follow the basics of what is going on, I do vote in the primaries and will vote again during the upcoming election. It all starts with having your voice heard people....start here Rock The Vote . I know there was a lot of back and forth and some people for Hillary and some for Obama....and ok...some for that republiCAIN guy. And I will be supporting my parties choice in the election. We need things to change in our country, we need to stand up for what is right, for OUR rights....please....register to vote, and then GO VOTE....we can only make change by letting our voices be heard! Ok....that's as political as I am gonna get LOL.

Reading some concert goer posts I see there have been some mixed reviews.....even of the exact same show by different attendees....my experience is this....it IS a different concert experience depending on where you are sitting, who is sitting near you, familiarity of what shows have evolved into over the past several years, and your basic outlook on life. Please know I do not mean to offend anyone and am not trying to say that there is a "level" to how big a fan someone is by where they sit. I have been in seats anywhere from top balcony to leaning on the stage and there IS a difference in the experience. The energy is different....and people feed off that. I have also seen some unexpecting souls in their front row seats...ummmm.....sitting down the WHOLE show?? I am not sure what to make of that? I have also seen an 80 year old woman with cancer stand at the stage in her Melissa t-shirt and rock it out like you would never expect....talk about drawing energy from her....wow....

The love of my life.....as much as I adore her....doesn't "get it". She has seen Melissa from right at the stage...she enjoyed the show, she liked the music....but she just doesn't "get it". We joke and say she is wasting a good seat....she would be just as happy sitting in the back watching....and....well....sitting? Me and the Kid however would be in the thick of things right down front....the energy and interaction is incredible....we feed off of it....we carry it with us and draw from it well into the future. My baby....the one who sends us to all these shows....she feeds off of the energy of us telling her all about it....time after time LOL.....she doesn't "get" the whole concert, down front, standing, story telling, energy wave of people.....but she does "get" me....and and I guess that's what really matters.....LOL

As a side note...or question....or random thought....if you were attending something called The Revival Tour.....wouldn't the word revival give you a little hint about the story telling and talking that might go on? (think of those southern tent revivals) And while I am pondering my thoughts....have you ever been on a stage? with the lights in your face? with flashes from cameras going off randomly? (please be kind and don't use a flash if you really don't need to) how far do you think you would be able to see? There is much more interaction with the front several rows...it's easier to see one of us down there singing and dancing and smiling than it is to see someone in the balcony...however....it's not impossible and does happen! I wasn't right about All American Girl...BUT....she did play I Take You With Me which was one of the other songs that seem to be rotating in the 1st position after All There Is. A few other groupings have been appearing....if you hear Don't You Need you will also hear Similar Features...and if you hear Down To One then you will most likely also hear I Want To Be In Love and Mercy. Another grouping is You Used To Love To Dance and Dance Without Sleeping.

There is a day off till the next concert....I have LOTS to do today LOL....so I guess I should get off my butt and seize the day....maybe tomorrow I can get a posting up based on album trends...just a though...hmmm....check back with me tomorrow and have a great day....choose your path and embrace life to its fullest!

Charlotte NC - football, basketball and NASCAR, OH MY!

I have live in many many states, and traveled to most of the others....but when it all comes down to it, I tend to call NC home. My father and baby brother still live there with their respective families (shout out to Kernersville!)....I left NC many times but I always came back....the last time I left was in May 1999....my dad said "she will be back, she always comes back"...but what he didn't know was the stars had aligned and I had met the love of my life and my path was forever changing....it was only in the past couple years that he looked at his wife and said "she isn't coming back is she" and she told him "no, she isn't"....when you find the one, well...sigh....home is in their heart and its the greatest place I have ever been ;-)

I was so torn about wanting to go to this concert...I wanted to couple it with visiting my family.....but other responsibilities came first....I needed to be here in PA to take care of life....couldn't run off and follow the tour around like last time.....by the time i talked myself into maybe going there were no more fan club tickets to be had....and I "watched" many pairs on eBay...and visited Ticketmaster often (I do this alot for almost all the shows LOL)....but it wasn't meant to be this time....I have been sticking close to home....getting some things done....more about that in the coming months......maybe ;-)

The Kid comes running upstairs a little bit ago and was all excited...she says "I FOUND A PATTERN"....I think she actually is starting to understand my stats LOL....scary...

So what she noticed was that Melissa played Don't You Need and Similar Features in Clearwater and Louisville....then the next nights after each she played You Used To Love To Dance and Dance Without Sleeping in Orlando and Charlotte respectively. We also noticed that she has rotated the song after All There Is with 4 songs: I Take You With Me, Ain't It Heavy, All American Girl, and Chrome Plated Heart....this will be confirmed if she plays All American Girl tonight in DC....we shall see!

Charlotte's set list was comprised of 27 songs, 19 core songs (I am again counting If I Wanted To and The Kingdom Of Heaven since she has played these at all shows except 1 each), there were 8 other songs played, 1 of which was a tour premier: Kiss Me. The encore included Piece of My Heart again....hopefully this is an indication that Melissa is feeling better and that pesky cold has passed. Piece Of My Heart has been played at 4 of the 8 shows so far...still no appearance of Like The Way I Do....wonder if/when this one will show?

Melissa has sang 188 songs total from a pool of 57 different songs. There should be many more tour premiers if it hold true that she has planned for about 70 different songs. Every commercial release has been represented during the tour with anywhere from 3-6 songs having been played off of each....except for The Awakening which has had all but 2 of its songs played: A Simple Love and Map Of The Stars. Also only 1 song has appeared from Live and Alone that was not on any other release: I Take You With Me.

For those in DC tonight HAVE FUN! wish I was there...but love reading all about the adventures, watching the videos, and seeing the pictures when I can't be there in person LOL...Toronto in 30 some days! and then on to Columbus just a few days later!

Louisville, KY - did someone say "flash" dance?

Louisville, KY - all I know about this town I learned from horse races LOL. It has a down home charm and comfort to it...and baseball bats LOL how can you not love a place like that! I am going to keep this one short since I am supposed to be getting dressed and ready to go to the Pride celebration in Pittsburgh very shortly....taking the Kid and the Love of My Life...this tuesday will be our 8 year anniversary....so just for you baby...

sigh.....forever and a day baby....then we will do it all again...

I will go more in depth over the next couple days since there wont be another show till tuesday....Louisville saw 2 tour premiers Must Be Crazy For Me and Hero's And Friends ....hmmm I said to play that one in Toronto! LOL.....of the core songs there were only 17, The Kingdom Of Heaven was not played....bummer...thats a GREAT song...and Philip is AMAZING on that one. There were 26 songs in setlist and that pesky cold is still being reported....lets hope a couple days off will help that.

Word is there was a flasher in the audiance who needed to be escorted from the building....remember folks....there are families there....there are kids....if you were to expose yourself near them on a playground I dont think you would just be "escorted" out......also, drunks suck the fun out of it for everyone...save it for after the show, celebrate with friends, and have a designated driver or call a cab....the life you save may be mine ;-)

I have 15 minutes to get ready to go into Pittsburgh or I will be in serious trouble for making us late LOL...I will post more tonight or tomorrow....maybe even look up some info from last tour....

Atlanta - I really miss southern sweet tea!

I am not sure if it is the heat from being outdoors or if it's the cold people have been reporting that Melissa has...but last night in Atlanta the setlist dropped to 25 songs...perhaps its just still undergoing some fine tuning to keep within her timeframe. I am going to hope for the heat being the only factor since I wouldn't want her feeling ill....and I don't want to think there isn't enough time to play as many songs as possible...LOL.

Atlanta saw just 4 song premiers - Ruins, The Angels, All The Way To Heaven, and Yes I Am. The "other" 3 songs outside the 18 core songs were - I Take You With Me, If I Wanted To, and Piece Of My Heart.

Sorry for this blog taking awhile to get posted today....between not getting the setlist immediatly following the concert like we would all LOVE lol and having to do massive amounts of yard work and taking my Baby out to eat I am just NOW getting to look this over LOL.

I remember being at the Jacksonville concert in 2006. Someone was kind enough to offer me a free ticket, and the good karma was returned to them by us ending up in the front row against the stage right from the start of the show. The crowd was very polite I remember...no one pushing or crowding each others space. The Kid was mad she couldn’t go to that one but it was on a school night and the 2 hour drive home after the concert was going to be a bit much....I mean she DID get to go to 12 other ones that year....geez. But being the softie that I am I called her from the concert and she listened to just about the whole show. They were so used to seeing her at the stage at this point that Melissa and Philip each looked at me real confused and looking for her....so I pointed to my cell phone and they each smiled and knew the deal then LOL. At the end of that show Philip gave me a pick and Fritz came over and gave me a stick to give to her....only the Kid can score and not even BE at the concert....geez....

ok....onto the setlist info....it seems that there were still the core 18 songs played that have been at each show so far...with 8 other songs mingled in....this show followed the same setlist format as the Boca show with 2001 / I Need To Wake Up moved to before Message To Myself and All We Can Really Do moved from early in the concert to after Come To My Window. This time the encore was Not Tonight without Piece Of My Heart....we have still yet to see Like The Way I Do as the encore....but there is still the possibility LOL.

Boca 2008 - WHA??? Seems the same thing happened to my spreadsheet last tour....within days of starting to post the setlist analysis a certain un-named rockstar messes me up by changing it up. In 2006 it was a whole chunk of songs that were moved to earlier in the setlist...that wasn’t so bad...I just added a few blank cells and presto! things still lined up and made sense visually for me...except for that one song in Lowell that the Kid requested for me and we ended up with 2 "box songs"....but I digress...

So I get the setlist from last nights show in Boca and WHAT?? the misc song changes are no biggie...I can adjust for those....but what does she do but keep most all of the core songs but changes their order!! Does she not know this makes it impossible to line everything up and have my nice neat rows?? That’s my excuse for why this has taken me ALL day to review....well....that and wicked heartburn....*mental note to self....don’t run out of antacids for 3 days and think it wont matter....LOL

We started off the tour with 20 core songs....last night there were only 18 of those played....missing were I've Loved You Before and God Is In The People....however, If You Want To was played in one of those spots and it was fun to see it appear in the setlist! Always a crowd favorite and makes for some interesting conversations....2006 power outage in SC...anyone remember that one? LMAO....or Melissa asking the Kid who would she be calling?" (she wont call kids) and the Kid saying "MY MOM!" ....Melissa was momentarilly confused what a kid was doing in the audience....full of women...and wanting her mom called....the Kid cleared things up and clarified "My OTHER mother!" lol....She made her cover her ears for part of the call that ensued....LOL

where was I.....oh, yeah....18 core songs were played. BUT...3 of those changed position in the order....2001 / I Need To Wake Up was moved to before Message to Myself / Come To My Window instead of after....and All We Can Really Do had previously been played in aprox the #3 position and was moved to 3/4 of the way through the concert appearing between Come To My Window and The Kingdom Of Heaven. Despite all this...the basic format between core songs and intermingled "other" songs still remains roughly the same as listed previously......HA! whew....lol

So far there have been 44 different/unique songs for a total of 84 songs sung. (accounting for duplicates songs). The first show, which ran very long, was 30 songs, since then there have been 27 songs sung per concert. Including the core songs the breakdown per album is as follows:

Melissa Etheridge - 3 songs played a total of 5 times for 6% of all songs played
Brave & Crazy - 4 songs played a total of 4 times for 4.8% of all songs played
Never Enough - 3 songs played a total of 5 times for 6% of all songs played
Yes I Am - 4 songs played a total of 9 times for 10.7% of all songs played
Your Little Secret - 3 songs played a total of 5 times for 6% of all songs played
Breakdown - 5 songs played a total of 5 times for 6% of all songs played
Skin - 1 song played a total of 1 time for 1.2% of all songs played
Live and Alone *- 1 song played a total of 1 time for 1.2% of all songs played
Lucky - 3 songs played a total of 3 times for 3.6% of all songs played
Road Less Traveled *- 3 songs played a total of 8 times for 9.5% of all songs played
The Awakening - 13 songs played a total of 35 times for 41.7% of all songs played
M.E.I.N. cd single - 1 song played a total of 3 times for 3.6% of all songs played
* I am only counting songs that appeared solely on L&A or TRLT. Other songs from these 2 recordings are credited to thier original albums.

Interesting tidbit - during the 2006 Summer Tour only 1 song was ever played off the Skin album and it was The Different, played at 18 of the concerts. Could we possibly see more songs from that album this tour or will it again only be represented by this one song?....only time will tell!

ORLANDO - The happiest place on earth (last night)

Ahhhh....Orlando.....so we moved from Orlando to Canonsburg, PA back at the end of 2007. It went like this...go to Hollywood, FL Awakening concert, return to Orlando and host DVD release party at the Hard Rock, get in car and drive the Kid to PA, spend Thanksgiving with the Kid and the Love of my Life, attend new companies christmas party, get back from party and get in car and head back to Orlando, pack up house, meet movers, pack up 2 Sun Conures and the Chihuahua and head back to PA again...for the last time. Did you know that you can listen to all of Melissa's CD's in order, TWICE, during that drive? I wonder how many times you can listen to Lucky Live and Philip Sayce "Peace Machine" on a cross country drive? Hmmm....gonna have to ask Camille LOL.

During the 2006 Summer Tour the Kid and I were able to attend 13 shows (the Kid was at 12 of them with me and on the phone for the other 1) She wasn’t supposed to go to the Orlando show with us since my 2nd ticket was going to be used by my Love, but I scored her a 4th row ticket at the last minute!...it would be my Love's 1st MLE concert...I think it will also be her last...atleast in the Fan Club seats....she enjoys Melissa's music, listens to all her cd's on her iPod and in the car...but the whole concert experience...well...she just doesn’t get it....but she does love sending us to the concerts, and even gave us a travel package this tour (see you in TORONTO!) And thanks to the Kid she even got a call from the stage in 2006....read all about our 2006 trip from the Kid's point of view at KodaBear's View from the Cheap Seats Orlando 2006 was our last show...and to have missed this one was killing me last night...got one call from a friend at the concert, so a small listen to "Nowhere To Go" to hold me over....hmmmm....now that I think about it...I had nowhere to go last night!

So onto what you are probably really here for...the setlist insights.....well I added the Orlando setlist to my spreadsheet (yes I am an Excel geek) and from here on during the tour I will not include the HI setlist in my calculations...unless I specify otherwise....

There are 20 songs that were played in a specific sequence at both the Clearwater and Orlando concerts...with other songs intermingled. The setlists at this point seem to take this format:

as a side note...if you attended the Clearwater concerts in both 2006 and 2008 you also heard I Take You With Me, Don't You Need and Lucky at both shows...along with 7 of the core songs (pre-Awakening songs) but if you attended the Orlando concerts in 2006 and 2008 all songs were different except for 6 core songs (pre Awakening).

Comparing the HI concert from earlier this year to the Clearwater concert from last night there are 20 songs that were played at both shows. Of those 20 common songs only 4 were in a different order (marked with and * in the list below) There were other songs intertwinded within these core set of songs but I will not list those so that the pattern is a bit clearer-ish LOL

Remembering the Summer Tour 2006

During Melissa's 2006 Summer Tour....

1. What 2 songs were played only ONCE each? and at which shows? Hint: One of these 2 songs was attempted at another show but was not completed!

*Mercedes Benz - Columbus, OH
(excert from a review of that nights concert)
Also during the show, Etheridge shared another uniquely Columbus tale of her first live radio performance at Newport in 1988. The singer recalled that she was all set to perform with a live band when all of a sudden their instruments' power supply went out. All that was left on was her microphone. Just as she did 18 years ago across the street from the Wexner Center, Etheridge prompted the crowd to accompany her with hand claps as she belted Janis Joplin's Mercedes Benz (flawlessly, of course).

This song was requested at a previous concert but Melissa could not remember the lyrics....so at the Toronto show Eagle and Golfie came prepared with thier sign complete with lyrics on the back! How could Melissa refuse!

2. By request, which song was performed for the first time on the piano in Orlando, FL?
Sleep - it took me and Koda 4 times requesting it...but the end result was incredible!

3. What were the 14 core songs that were played at all 46 shows?
* If I Wanted To - played in the #2 spot except at the Del Mar Fair - where it was the opening song.
* I Want To Come Over - played in the #4 spot except at the Del Mar Fair - where it was the 2nd song.
* Come To My Window - this song was played in either aprox. the #5 or #8 spot as there was a setlist shake up about a third of the way into the tour.
* Angels Would Fall/I Need To wake Up/Silent Legacy/Scarecrow/Tuesday Morning - these were played back to back in this order in aprox. the # 9-13 slots. The only exception was on opening night in Las Vegas when she played This Moment in betwwen Angels Would Fall and I Need To Wake Up.
* This Is Not Goodbye and I Run For Life - these were played together as aprox. the #16 and #17 songs.
* Bring Me Some Water/I'm The Only One/Piece Of My Heart - these were the last 3 songs of the regular set before she left the stage, only to return shortly for the encore.
* Like The Way I Do - first of 2 encore songs played upon returning to the stage.

4. There were 3 songs that were rotated as the last song of the evening....what were they?
